Quests from The Panic Room: House of Secrets

One ball after another

Marie: January has glided by. It seemed that uncle Robert left only yesterday, but there was some kind of easiness left in the house after his visit. Or perhaps there was easiness in my soul now?

Task: Find an unknown item in the Bedroom in the ghosts mode. You will not find the item immediately.

Marie: I’ve started getting invitations to balls. At first it was interesting, then funny, and finally outright ridiculous. The scenario was the same every time.

Marie: I was introduced to several noble gentlemen, on my stepmother’s choice. I was talking to them politely under the lady’s maid surveillance and accompanied by at least one married woman. Then I was dancing with those who were not too fat, old or ugly. After that either the ball would end, or I would leave, pleading poor fit, fatigue or any other polite excuse.

Marie: And in the morning, after listening to the lady’s maid report, Lynette invited me to her boudoir. There she would praise in great detail all titles, proprieties and merits of each gentleman I have danced with that night.

Marie: Among the ones she approved, of course. Then she would ask me for my opinion, which was usually followed by a scandal. She would threaten to put me under house arrest again, not take me to another ball and that sort of thing. A week later the spectacle was repeated again.

You completed the task and received some points of freedom and some tokens

Marie: My ball book was empty. I didn’t mean I wasn’t dancing at all, I just couldn’t understand why I should list my partners there. A lady's maid or a matchmaker would see it anyway and tell my stepmother, and I didn’t want that at all.
