John: Yes.
John is answering calmly, but you notice his face getting stiff. The Underground leader rummages in the closet a little longer and then walks out.
Jack: Do you remember triggering the fire control system?
John: Yes.
Jack: I always wanted to ask you… What the heck for? Well, locking in a cell for a shot, I get that. But why didn’t you let me die? You don’t seem to value human lives all that much.
John: I don’t know.
Jack: Don’t know what?
John: Nothing, little mouse. The Puppeteer plays by his rules. I put you on a chain, I take it off. Didn’t Jim tell you he started searching after he got a note? From me, of course.
Jack: You didn’t answer why. And I’m not going to thank you for that either way.
John turns away.
John: You resembled me. And my brother. I didn’t want to bury your corpse.
Jack stares at the Puppeteer’s back for several seconds and then nods.
Jack: Okay. I’ll consider myself lucky then.
