Quests from The Panic Room: House of Secrets

Sad State of Affairs

Leonard: I was told to stay in my room, but curiosity took the best of me. I quietly descended the stairs and passed servants' rooms. Everyone seemed to be asleep. I peeked in the lounge. Not a soul was in sight. Suddenly I heard voices and footsteps. There was no time to think, so I slid into the closet which was located in the wall on the far side of the room. As I closed the door, I tripped over old shoes. It looked like they kept a pile of junk here. Trying not to make too much noise, I looked through the keyhole.

Task: Go through the library in the ghosts mode>

Lynette: Whiskey?

Caleb: Why are you doing this, Lynette?

Lynette: This marriage will secure our contract. Besides, who else is going to marry the girl that you dishonoured?

Caleb clearly wants to say something, but then opens his fists and takes a deep breath.

Caleb: How do we solve the problem of publicity? Your daughter came down and announced to the whole room that she was attacked.

Lynette: It is impossible to deny that, but who said that the deed was concluded? Besides, she did not name any names, and you were not the only one to go upstairs after the game.

Caleb: Who else can it be?

Lynette: Leonard, for example - my servant and secretary. Everyone in the house knows what he has feelings for Marie. He simply could not resist. And was it not for your attentiveness and initiative, he would have committed the crime, and so you saved the girl. A true "hero".

Caleb: This is sick and paltry...

Caleb: Will 15% suffice?

You helped Leonard. You received some points of freedom and some tokens.

Leonard: I had no words. I realized that I had to run, but I could not leave without Marie.
