Ink Stain
Leonard: Need to return the ink to the mantelpiece. Put it exactly where it stood before. It is the library now.
Task: Go through the library in the shadows mode.
You put the ink on the mantelpiece, but nothing happens. Leonard picks it and turns it upside down. Ghostly ink spills on the carpet and the room changes shape.
Leonard: It was noisy in the lounge. Men are playing cards, ladies are gossiping. The hostess is making evening tea. She is doing it herself as always...
You see a card table, silhouettes of people. You can make out only madam, the rest is blurry... And then a young girl enters the room. She is wearing a white plain dress, her long blond hair falls down on her shoulders casually, but the guests' attention immediately switches to her.
Lynette: This is my step-daughter Marie.
The girl makes an elegant curtsy, slightly bowing her head.
Lynette: Child, did you come down to the living room to wish me good night?
Marie: Yes, ma'am...
Lynette: Good night, Marie.
The girl's face immediately turns sad. She clearly wants to say something, but after a brief curtsy silently turns and walks out. On the hem of her dress you spot a large ink stain.
Lynette: Tea, gentlemen. It is bergamot and milk tonight...
Leonard picks up the ink from the floor and gives it to you. Ghosts become blurry, and the card table disappears. There are only shelves with books before you now.
You completed Leonard's task. You received some points of freedom and some tokens.
Leonard: Children of wealthy parents, surrounded by dolls and nannies. Thousands of rules on how to behave, and the words "not allowed" are more common than "allowed". The inkwell was not on the mantelpiece that night. Someone took it earlier in the day. And I knew who it was.
