High Stakes

Leonard: Now back to the library. The continuation of the story awaits us...

Task: Go through the library in the words mode.

The card table returns. There are just two people - Madame and Caleb.

Lynette: Are you aware that I did it on purpose, Caleb? Although, frankly, I did not expect an experienced player like you to fall for such a cheap trick.

Caleb: Double bluff? No, this cannot be true.

Lynette: So you only saw two layers? I feel sorry for you. Two thousand pounds.

Caleb: Three thousand. And when you show your cards, everyone will see that wretched pair in your hand.

Lynette: Wretched pair, you say? We shall see how your confidence holds out. Ten thousand pounds.

Silence fell on the hall. An iron smile froze on Madame's lips, and beads of sweat appeared on Caleb's forehead.

Lynette: Do you seriously believe that I will bet half of my fortune with only a pathetic pair? Think about whether you are willing to lose ten thousand pounds?

Caleb: I do not have that much money on hand, Madame, but I think you have no doubt that the son of William Allford is able to put this amount together if necessary, have you?

Lynette: Of course.

You completed Leonard's task You received some points of freedom and some tokens.

Leonard: A ten with three zeroes is a large amount at stake and quite a turnabout. The jack of spades is risking more than he has... The queen of spades takes the same risk but has a good deal of poise.
