Quests from The Panic Room: House of Secrets

Hearing Out Jim

Jim: Feather? Are we alive? Sorry, I've been awake for too long. Now I'm falling asleep on my feet. No, not falling asleep, but sinking somewhere... You don't know, do you? Then I need to tell you everything. Perhaps, if I recount the events, I'll create a necessary surge for him.

Task: Go through the living room.

Jim: You should have woken up right away, that's true. But Jack... Multiple fractures, damaged lungs. It's a miracle that the spine and heart were intact. He was dying, Feather. I started the operation, knowing that it will do little good, when Leonard appeared.

Jim: Jack had perfect health and love of life. His heart kept beating even though the majority of vessels were torn. He was still breathing even as his lungs were filling with blood. The ghost was late for just a moment and ended up in a state where the convulsing heart stopped beating, the breathing ceased, but the brain was still alive.

Jim: I did everything I could using these primitive instruments, but all in vain. Then Leonard said that he will keep Jack between life and death for as long as he could before I find a way to help him. Leonard's power comes from emotions of the living people. To keep my brother alive, I have to feed him these emotions.

Jim: Fear, pain, suffering - I can create them, strengthen and nurture them, so that's what I do.

Jim habitually sinks to the floor next to his brother and looks at him. Then you realize that Jack is not breathing.

Jim: It scares me to see his still face. This is not a coma, he doesn't need food or water, but his life is hanging by a thread. To think, I need to concentrate, mute the emotions, but at the same time I can't do that. But the strain is going to kill me soon. Very soon.

You talked to Jim. You received some points of freedom and some tokens.

Jim: I don't dare hope for anything, but... Please help me.
