Quests from The Panic Room: House of Secrets

Cryptography

The Puppeteer: Feather, how often do you think about what it is that you’re looking for in the rooms? Or did the tests become a routine for you already, with your every movement turned automatic?

Task: Go through the living room in the "invisible ink" mode.

The Puppeteer: Is this how you’re learning to value freedom – by missing whole fragments of your life? If you don’t pay attention to small details you can’t see the whole picture. Take a new list of objects from the coffee table.

A list? Is this some kind of a smart joke? A “list” should contain words and this one is empty. If the Puppeteer wants to teach you a lesson, he’s doing a poor job here. But when you take the paper in your hands, separate letters are starting to appear.

The Puppeteer: The paper is treated with a special chemical reacting to the touch. Letters appear under different temperature. Some of them you will see sooner, others later.

The Puppeteer: The longer you are holding the list in your hands the closer you are to guessing the word. But don’t be standing idle for too long, or else you will fail. And if you fail the test, you’ll be passing it again.

You completed the task. You received some points of freedom and some token.

The Puppeteer: Now you won’t be able to run your eyes over a list rapidly and grab everything you can reach carelessly — you will have to stop and think.
