Quests from The Panic Room: House of Secrets

Consultation

Jenny: The rat’s getting worse by the moment! I wanted to feed it before taking to Jim, but it doesn’t want to eat anything, even berries. I have a bad feeling about it. Let’s hurry up and go to the doctor!

Task: Go through the living room in the "words" mode.

Jim: Jenny, you look like a ghost! Wait a minute, I’ll get a first-aid kit. Where’s the patient?

Jenny: No, Jim, you don’t have to run anywhere. The patient is here already.

Jim: Hm. You both walked into the room quite briskly, no limping. I don’t see any signs of typical trap-induced trauma, unless you are mentally affected…

Jenny: No-no, it’s not about us.

Only now Jim notices tip of a long nose and a barely audible squeaking coming from Jenny’s bosom.

Jim: You too.

Jenny: Me too? What?

Jim: You brought a rat too. Sorry, Jenny, all questions later. First I’ll make an examination.

Jenny makes a great effort not to bombard Jim with questions. She then passes the rat to the doctor with resolution and without a word.

Even though she worries about the rodent very much, Jenny is obviously uneasy because of the silence that is only broken by Jim’s displeased comments to himself and…

Jenny: Feather, did you hear it?

Jenny tries to speak as quietly as possible.

Jenny: A squeak…

Jim: It’s done. Jenny, Feather, you don’t have to whisper. Your rat has the same problem as Jack’s little fellows, I’m afraid.

Jim makes a vague wave at the corner of the room, and you see a box there. It’s definitely the source of those strange sounds.

Jim: Jenny, not so fast, please! I’ve blinked, and you’re at the other side of the room already.

Jenny: I’m sorry, Jim. Are they all ill?

Jim: Yes, I’m afraid.

Jenny: Wait a minute, did I hear you right? What does Jack need so many rats for?

Jim: You know him, Jenny. He hates reporting to anyone. He brought me these rats, said «treat them!», and added that he won’t have any objections. Jack was even more perplexed, than you are now. And then he ran off without proper explanations.

Jenny: Ah, Nan is here too! Jim, what in the world is going on here?

Jim: I don’t think anyone can give you a proper answer to this question at the moment. My presumptive diagnosis is mycotoxicosis. Mold fungi poisoning.

You completed Jenny’s task. You received some points of freedom and some tokens.

Jenny: I always keep the kitchen clean, where did they find mold?!
